While attending Rockhurst University in Kansas City, I met with the director of the Speech Pathology department and knew I had found my calling. After completing my undergraduate studies I went on to receive a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Western Kentucky University. I also hold my Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech Language and Hearing Association.
I have spent the past 7 years working in school settings ranging from early childhood home visits all the way through high school. My experience includes working with children with communication needs in the areas of receptive and expressive language, fluency, pragmatic (social) language, articulation and phonological needs as well as apraxia of speech. I am trained in Verbal Behavior Therapy, Picture Exchange Communication Systems (PECS), and Routines Based Intervention.
I truly enjoy watching children learn and grow and find it so important to include parents and caregivers during the process. As a child’s first teacher, caregivers make the biggest impact and I love collaborating and working as a team. I am so excited to be on this journey with Carnahan Pediatric Therapy and look forward to meeting new children and their families!
We want you to know that we will always view your family's health as THE most important part of what we do. We are currently open and are continuing to provide quality therapy services at this time, following the guidelines provided by the CDC (The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). We are offering therapy services in the clinic setting and also offering the option of tele-therapy.
We have been monitoring developments of the COVID-19 virus in our community and want to inform you of what we are doing to keep CPT a safe and healthy environment. We will continue to follow all recommendations from the CDC (The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), and have significantly increased the frequency and thoroughness of our cleaning and disinfecting routines. Due to the controlled size of our clinic, parents/guardians are able to attend therapy sessions with their child, as before.
The first time I heard the word autism I was six years old. My parents wanted me to be part of my younger brother's journey and explained how we were all going to pull together to help him. Ever since that journey began, I have found joy in doing whatever I can to make a difference in the life of a child and a family. I want you to feel like you are part of the CPT "family" every time you are here.
CPT is my happy place, and I hope it's yours, too!
